Western union hà nội

Level Contributor
I've used Paypal but never WU (WU is too expensive). Yes, moving money around can be difficult in this crazy country - just try opening a bank account in VN!

Hi. Thank you for your reply. I thought about Paypal; but chose Western Union instead. I have been using an UK bank for sending money; but the cost is about 15 times the cost of using Western Union. So I was thinking about switching to WU.

I have to send a small amount of money as a test to see if it can be done through WU.

Thanks again for your reply.

Best Regards

Western Union works very well here and is quick. Many banks have western union inside them and there are many agents all over the country. May not be the cheapest way but much easier than dealing with banks.

I wanted to send money from Vietnam to a cousin in Indonesia and they are asking me to provide some identification about the person.......Please I need anyone help are they referring to the ID Card of the receiver in Indonesia?????? Urgent Response pleasee

Xoom.com (part of Paypal) is the one I now use after many problems with Western Union - it's really easy and an instantaneous transfer!

(I use Vietcombank) This is for USA-Vietnam, going the other way is another story entirely.

JD Thanks for the info on Xoom....definitely will check out, have used WU before with success, since there are many branches in VN.

I've given up sending money by WU. Since the revamp of their website, way too many glitches and last effort just generated an error at the end. Also the exchange rate is getting poor too. It might be nice that its instant transfer but most of my transfers can wait a few days. I'll have a look at Xoom too but Paypal and me don't exactly mix well! One reason I no longer have a Paypal account.

Gone with Transferwise for the last transfer. Need a bank account for sending and receiving but the exchange rate on offer was very near the amounts shown on various websites i.e. xe.com, vietcombank etc and the fees at least halved. Saved £40 on just this transfer alone i.e. 10%.

I still use WU in Australia as its the cheapest, $4 for up to $250 from the Post Office. Only problem we ever had was a bank teller who tried to charge my friend 30000dong to collect it.

Hi Bertie,

I'm curious about transferwise. You say you have used it to send money out of Vietnam? They say on their website that they don't cover Vietnam?https://transferwise.com
